*1946 in Burma
Acrylic and handmade paper on canvas, 55 cm x 55 cm
Made with a single flowing line, these pieces are clean, elegant and meditative. While they evoke the fluid lines of Western modernist work, they are actually rooted in Burmese tradition, influenced as they are by one-line painting, a term referring to a technique used in the ancient mural works in the city of Bagan. With the unbroken connection between mother and child, the pieces speak of peace, wholeness and grace.
